Overview
On this website you can find information about the research topic on a "Semantically Enhanced Version Control System (VCS) for model artifacts"
with a specific focus on precise conflict detection mechanisms.
Research works in this area started in 2006 in the ModelCVS Project.
At this time a first prototype incorporating semantic versioning was built.
Since the beginning of 2009 the research works in this area are incorporated in the AMOR (Adaptable Model Versioning) Project.
Semantically enhanced Model Versioning (SMoVer)
The research works on SMoVer covers the phd thesis of Dipl.-Ing. Kerstin Altmanninger and focuses on the following subgoals:
-
Development of concepts and techniques for establishing a generic, semantically enhanced VCS, which is
- open to incorporate any modeling environment,
- flexible to operate on any modeling language,
- configurable model comparison process, and
- extensible to include the semantics needed.
- Prototypical Implementation using state of the art technologies and standards like the "Eclipse's Modeling Framework" (EMF).
- Evaluation of the usefulness of configurable model comparison and the quality and representation of the conflict detection results on basis of a comparison to other VCSs.
